jack | queen | king | ace

As you all know, I'm the one & only dog of my mistress (b.t.w. I would never accept anything or anyone else...).
That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy the presence of other fellows - I love being outside with my beloved dogwalker and her pack twice a week!
When finding the following playing cards »Pack of Dogs«, made by the american illustrator John Littleboy  and sell by artiphany.com, I feel reminded of our funny and action-loaded life during the days.
It's a perfect and detailed interpretation of different dog-breeds and their typical behaviour, transferred into the life of playing cards.

All that's left to say for me is: Let's get ready to rumble!

Warning

There are times, I don't like other dogs. Fortunately most dogs realize that rather fast and forgo me - unfortunately their owners don't...
As humans are sometimes in a bad temper we dogs are, too. But how to explain this to bustling people, gushy kids or ignorant congeners?

The »Yellow Dog Project« - founded in september 2011- was created to bring awareness to dogs who need space. Dog owners only have to put a yellow ribbon or something similar in yellow at the leash of their dogs to demonstrate their need of room.

There are some lovely illustrations of artist »Lili Chin« that describe the idea in a fantastic way.
Her works about dogs and dog education as well as her custom made dog portraits are absolutely unique and my favourites.
You'll find them following in English and for my German readers also in German.
If you need another translation, please cheek out the website of the »Yellow Dog Project«.

And keep in mind: The more dog owners know about this initiative, the better it works -
so please pass this on to have a better social life.

On behalf of all my buddies, sincere thanks to you all!

Bead it!

Usually I'm not into that Bling-Bling-stuff, but I found something really magnificent in the net:
The Lone Beader  - or respectively Diana L. Grygo from Boston | USA - creates something with beads that is really incredible: Inspired by dogs, cars or typical city scenes she makes lovely brooches, pins, jewellery and even art in an absolut particular way.

This one I ♥ most, because it looks like me!

A lot more dog-breeds than these presented you can find at Dianas shop.
B.t.w.: If you are a dextrous person and want to try it out by yourself, she also has some nice tutorials on sale. Enjoy!

Scratching post

Today the word "post" got a complete new meaning for me: This cattree made by the Dutch designer »Erik Stehmann« shows that there possibly exsists a kind of friendship - or let's say helpfulness between dogs and cats.
Okay, this tree really looks fantastic compared to the traditional furniture for cats, but it turns everything topsy-turvy in my view of the world. I think I've to make an appointment with my trusted psychologist....

Finally a short warning that hits the mark: Mind your head....!.

spring fever

It's becoming spring! The tulips and hyacinths are growing in my garden and I'm feeling totally excited about that.
Some of my collegues feel much more excited about other things - called reproduction.
Luckily that's not one of my problems, but I sympathise with their typical symptoms named absence of appetite, insomnia and heartache.
I found a really interesting solution for their pain in terms of a »Hot Doll« - a sexdoll and companion for dogs. Available in vicious black or virginial white:

I, personally, think that it doesn't look like a typical "playmate". For me it's a design object for a stylish home.
But it is purportedly: Love is blind.

Ouch!

My dearest friends.
Most of you certainly know how it feels when you have to go to the vet:
It's a terrible nightmare!
The most degrading thing is when he prescribes a cone of shame. (B.t.w. it's the perfect definition of this awful object...)
Julia Duncan-Roitman, the founder of »Pink Baby Mouse Shop« doesn't only breed mice (yeah, it's true, buddies!) - she also designed these incredible "Cone Pillows" that show different dog breeds on colourful fabrics.

P.S.
Dear talented inventors & designers.
It would be really kind, if you would give some attention to the look of these horrible cones of shame. I'm sure it would be a profitable job for you...And I swear that all dogs in the world - including me - would be deeply grateful.
Kind regards and a big woofeee!
Anton

Pugs go fashion

If you're dotty about everything that's OOAK, these couture-dressed pugs will hit you on:
20 of the world-famous designers - from Versace to Balmain - clothe a cuddly pug, made by the german established company »Steiff«.

This special edition can currently be astonished in Florence | Italy at »Luisa Via Roma» until it will be sold in March by ebay-auctions in aid of Unicef to support disadvantaged children:

My true followers know that I'm an advocate of being undressed, but because it's for a good cause, I'm going to turn a blind eye...

How to spell a Labrador

It's no secret that we dogs cannot read a word (some of my colleagues even don't understand one, too....). But this was no obstacle for printmaker & illustrator Leslie Evans of »Sea Dog Press« to create an alphabet by using her Labrador-dog "Morgan".
The lovely print shows him during his daily routine in sleeping, relaxing and hanging around - and it shows impressively that we dogs are much more clever than it sometimes seems:

♫ Oh Tannenbaum ♫

I don't know why, but my mistress & lordling both have this quirk every year: They carry a tree from the garden into MY house and decorate it with different things - always the same time!
This year they put some little white balls on the tree that are printed with some of my buddies.
Look:

Baubles by »Reiko Kaneko«

Basically I'm very thankful for this noble gesture - at least I've an awesome indoor bathroom for the next two weeks...

key couture

It seems to be a prejudice that the fashion world is an impersonal and frosty place...
Look below what I found in the shops of the most famous designers: A hommage to us dogs (what else...)!

Jack and Lazaro of »Proenza Schouler« created two limited-edition keychains in honor to their best friends Jojo (a Prague Rattler) and Buster (a Newfoundland). You can see both live at pic No.3 and their high-class copy - that's BTW only available at the online-store - at No.2 & 4.

Frida Giannini, chief designer of »Gucci« created Sam (picture No.1), made out of the typical Gucci-canvas, with ears of black suede and dark gold leather trim. He wears a gold tone plaque with the Gucci-Logo around his neck. Available at »pret-a-beaute«.

The keys I found at ebay.

I think it's only a matter of time until we dogs will be personally invited to the fashion-weeks around the world.
After all our taste is amazing! (We like to eat and wallow in lovely smelling dead things, for example...)

A dog in 236 illustrations

Camilla Engman from Sweden created a book in collaboration with 75 artists around the world to pay tribute to her dog Morran. (That - btw - reminds me of myself....)
»The Morran Book Project« is a lovely collection of awesome art, that doesn't only holds interest for dog-lovers...You can browse in the whole book to see the different artworks.

Maybe the perfect gift for mistresses & lordlings? x-mas is no longer far away....

Sweden ≠ IKEA

The scandinavian design is one of my favourites. I like the uncomplicated forms and the use of high-class natural materials.
The swedish designer »Lisa Bengtsson« created some really classy interior designs to pimp your home with your beloved friend. The collection includes different wallpapers, posters, pillows and tablewear.
Not everything that comes from Sweden must be IKEA....

Products are online available at:
Huset-Shop (for the US)
Scandinavian Design Center (Europe)

Hejdå! Hej så länge!*
* Cheers! See you soon!

pooch pouch

Women love bags - so does my mistress...She got millions of billions that fill a huge closet in my house. Without a doubt you can easily imagine that she instantly fell in love with the following range of eco-friendly tote bags made by »Blueblood®«, two women (no surprise, ey?) that live and meet each other at their dog park (no surprise, too) in Pacific Heights, San Francisco.
The illustrations are made by the co-owner of Blueblood®, Alexis Moran, and show the life of her Labrador Tubby in New York.

Model| Madison Ave.

The back side of all totes look the same.

And the best thing is: They are big enough to carry dozens of dog-treats...
Enjoy your meal!

Wire dogs

Never fear! I don't want to talk about those bad dog catchers, who are paid by some sick people for hunting and bothering animals. - I'm talking about art.
Today I found an artist who designs animal sculptures by using wire. It reminds me of ball-pen sketches that humans make while talking to someone boring at the telephone.
I think that was the inspiration of »Antonia Hansen« - a girl from lovely California - when creating the different dog-breeds (and a lot of more) in a handy size.

Have a look at poodle, retriever, great dane & other buddies that seems like handmade scribbles in 3D:

I would like to close this post by revealing my very own weekends' motto:
Better weird than wired.

Keep calm and carry one (or more)

Today it was raining cats & dogs the whole day. I think autumn has arrived in Germany and I feel sad of the grey sky that maybe will last until april....

Therefor I'm totally delighted by the following prints of »Keep Calm Shop« from NYC that will bring colour & a smile in your home:

Here are the available colours of the print:

And these are the breeds you can choose for the top of your print:

Now then Buddies: Keep calm and rejoice the weather!
