Do(g) it yourself: treat-containers

Because it's getting more & more unpleasant outside and time's running up to christmas, I've decided to show you some nice ideas and handicrafts in the upcoming weeks.

Today I'm starting with a really nice DIY-idea by »Diane Henkler« - published at  the platform »momtastic«.
At this platform you'll find the full instructions to develop your very own dog-food container made out of an old can. Everybody will envy your talent, wanna bet? - But don't panic, it's really easy. It only appears stylish and pricy....

For an absolute professional finish you'll also find the following labels to download at »momastic«:

Buddies, enough is enough -  time to roll up your sleeves and get started!

P.S. You can send me pics of your finished containers and your own ideas of labels and creations.
I'll show them in one of my next posts.

Bead it!

Usually I'm not into that Bling-Bling-stuff, but I found something really magnificent in the net:
The Lone Beader  - or respectively Diana L. Grygo from Boston | USA - creates something with beads that is really incredible: Inspired by dogs, cars or typical city scenes she makes lovely brooches, pins, jewellery and even art in an absolut particular way.

This one I ♥ most, because it looks like me!

A lot more dog-breeds than these presented you can find at Dianas shop.
B.t.w.: If you are a dextrous person and want to try it out by yourself, she also has some nice tutorials on sale. Enjoy!

True colors

Sometimes I wish that you humans could understand what we dogs are thinking about (but sometimes I'm really glad that you couldn't...)
The New York artist, writer & comedian Christopher Rozzi of »tiny confessions« found a perfect way to show all the thoughts and deepest secrets of your four-legged friend in his magnificent illustrations.

Have a look at some news about your dog you wouldn't dream of:

Do you want to know what secret thoughts I have?
»I would exchange everything for a squeaky toy - even you« *

*But: Shhh! Let's keep this quiet, okay?!?

Yummy Beauty

When people are invited by dog-owners, they often don't know what to bring along.
I found a very pleasant thing at the internet that turns some simple treats and a preserving jar into a perfect "made-with-love-gift".
With the »Jam-Labelizer« you can easy design your own Dogtreat-Label. There are different colours and designs available - you only have to type some words, print it, glue it, and: Here you are!

Actually it's made for labeling homemade marmelade - but why not also for your best friend of your best friend? Or your own best friend?
Check it out - it's fun!

Here are two of the designs you can choose from:

And also try the »Beer-Labelizer« - perfect for the thirsty lordling...

Pugs go fashion

If you're dotty about everything that's OOAK, these couture-dressed pugs will hit you on:
20 of the world-famous designers - from Versace to Balmain - clothe a cuddly pug, made by the german established company »Steiff«.

This special edition can currently be astonished in Florence | Italy at »Luisa Via Roma» until it will be sold in March by ebay-auctions in aid of Unicef to support disadvantaged children:

My true followers know that I'm an advocate of being undressed, but because it's for a good cause, I'm going to turn a blind eye...

Last-minute-valentine's-diy

For everybody who's still uninspired of a valentine's gift, I found something really special and self-made at the blog of Allison Cooling, member of »Quiet Lion Creation«.

Here she shows a pic-by-pic tutorial for making a cute dog-necklace that really looks similar to the high-priced-equivalent of Scottish designer »And Mary«.
Furthermore the original pendant only exists with a pug - and not everybody loves pugs, eh?

So let's get started to do some handicrafts!

Time to celebrate a happy Valentine's Day!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Short reminder: Two weeks left until Valentine's day!
Some people really think, that this date is only the clever idea of the florists, the perfumeries and the chocolate industry - but for me it's the day for »saying« how important someone is for you.
For all those who lost their heart to a dog, here are some selected postcards from talented and creative designers that are dedicated to us four-legged sweethearts.

All cards by »galleria mona« via felt & wire shop

Tired of being alone-card by »Nicola Clare« via Supermarket

Valentine Dog-print by »Jane Foster Designs« via Not-on-the-highstreet

Letterpress art-print by »tag team tompkins«

You & Me stationery set (set of 6 different animal-couples) by »ModCloth«

P.S. Don't forget to add some treats to your gift! As the saying goes: The way to a dog's heart is through its stomach.

Wire dogs

Never fear! I don't want to talk about those bad dog catchers, who are paid by some sick people for hunting and bothering animals. - I'm talking about art.
Today I found an artist who designs animal sculptures by using wire. It reminds me of ball-pen sketches that humans make while talking to someone boring at the telephone.
I think that was the inspiration of »Antonia Hansen« - a girl from lovely California - when creating the different dog-breeds (and a lot of more) in a handy size.

Have a look at poodle, retriever, great dane & other buddies that seems like handmade scribbles in 3D:

I would like to close this post by revealing my very own weekends' motto:
Better weird than wired.

Shake, shake, shake

I hate getting wet! Each time my mistress is bathing me, I MUST shake me while shampooning. My mistress always getting furious, but it's a reflex action that is completely normal for us dogs (nanny-nanny boo-boo!!).
The U.S. photographer »Carli Davidson« made some really exceptional pictures with a high-speed-camera of this phenomena. From my point of view, it's absolutely interesting and real art. (Even though some of my buddies look pretty weird while shaking...)
Have fun!

Dogs in advertising, Part Two

This time I would like to show you a TV-spot of VW. It's not the actual one, but I really like it since I've seen it the first time in 2008.
(Maybe the reason is, because the dog inside the car reminds me of myself...Don't know what is shot of the buddy outside the car - that's really not specific for our breed...)
O.K. Let the music play!

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog

Before some of you will declare me insane, I would like to explain:
It's not a weird sentence that comes into my mind, it's a
DUMMY TEXT
This text shares some characteristics of a real written text and it may be used to display a sample of fonts or to generate text for testing.
Mostly the text itself is nonsense but it's a coherent, short phrase that uses every letter of the alphabet. (Description by Wikipedia)
I know these phrase for a really long time, because my mistress sometimes need some dummy text for her work as a designer. It was time to appreciate it by printing it onto T-Shirts or - like in the other case - onto a shopping bag like the two designers of »DADADA studio« did.

There's only one thing wrong in this phrase that I would really like to correct:
The quick brown dog jumps over the lazy fox.

Yes, that sounds much better to me....

Back to the 80ies

I found something really funny at the internet: C64 yourself!
Do you remember one of the first home-computers by Commodore, introduced in 1982? - It was the C64 with its typical style of pixelated screen.
With »C64 yourself« you can fake up this "primeval" look by droping photos into the virtual monitor. A few seconds later you receive your special pic. If you want to, you can release it directly at Facebook or download in different sizes to your desktop.
Look - that's me:

I feel so wonderfully retro!

Anton in Wonderland

My mistress saw the fantastic movie "Alice in wonderland" by her favorite producer Tim Burton. Accordingly she took me to a friend, who's a photographer to make some pictures in that kind of style. I love it, because I always get so much treats while acting as a model....
